Lysine Quantitative, Urine

This test quantitatively measures lysine levels in urine to evaluate disorders of amino acid metabolism. Elevated urinary lysine may indicate inherited metabolic conditions such as lysinuric protein intolerance or renal tubular transport defects. The test is useful in the investigation of unexplained developmental delay, failure to thrive, or metabolic acidosis, and supports diagnosis and monitoring of metabolic disorders.
