Lipase, Serum

Serum lipase testing measures the level of lipase enzyme released primarily from the pancreas. Elevated levels are strongly associated with acute pancreatitis and pancreatic injury. This test is highly sensitive and specific for pancreatic disorders and is commonly used to diagnose, monitor disease progression, and assess response to treatment.
